CAREER STUDY GUIDE NOW REVISED

The Study Guide for Career Counseling Examinations has been revised. This guide was  written by Dr. Andrew Helwig who is also the author of the very popular Study Guide for the National Counselor Exam. This Second Edition (2005) of the Career Guide includes content material in six domains which represent the career development competencies identified by a number of national organizations such as the National Board for Certified Counselors® and their Global Career Development Facilitator curriculum, and the National Career Development Association. 

The six competency areas are: Career Guidance & Counseling, Career Development & Career Theories, Career Information Resources & Training, Individual & Group Assessment, Program Management / Administration / Alliances, and Diversity & Ethical Issues. The 240-page Career Guide includes a practice exam, study tips, reference list, test taking tips, and code of ethics from the National Career Development Association. The Career Guide costs $75 which includes handling charges and priority mailing expenses.

Dr. Helwig is a professor at the University of Colorado at Denver & Health Sciences Center and is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and National Certified Career Counselor. Career development is his primary teaching and research interest and he has published over 30 articles in that field. He has also conducted over 200 one-day workshops in 17 states preparing counselors for the National Counselor Examination, graduate school comprehensives, and similar exams.
